Restless Shadows

Restless Shadows (Night) - Cinematic Trailer
Restless Shadows is a scene where the silence of the grave shifts as day fades into night. This project was all about capturing the contrast between an overcast day and an eerie, unsettling night—two versions of the same graveyard, each telling a different story through lighting and atmosphere.
When night falls, everything changes. Darkness doesn’t just settle—it transforms the entire space. The once-muted graveyard now feels alive with mystery. Dim candlelight and lanterns flicker, casting long, uneasy shadows. Volumetric fog creeps through the gravestones, thickening the air with an ominous presence. It’s as if the graveyard is breathing, whispering its secrets to the night. The same space that felt abandoned in daylight now holds an unsettling energy, where every shadow hints at something lurking just beyond sight.
Restless Shadows (Last Walk) - Short Movie
During the day, there’s an eerie stillness to the graveyard. The muted overcast sky, soft shadows, and faded textures create a sense of abandonment, almost peaceful in its quiet solitude. The tombstones and statues stand solemnly, untouched by time, while the Lumen-powered daylight gently washes over the scene, making every crack and weathered surface feel tangible.
Technically, I relied on Lumen for natural transitions between light and shadow, making both versions feel immersive and believable. Nanite and Virtual Textures helped bring out every fine detail in the Meshinguns Studios' assets, from the cracks in the statues to the worn edges of the tombstones. The landscape, has been textured with Quixel Megascans assets, as well as it features an auto-material system that adapts to terrain height, adding realism to the scene’s organic feel.

With Restless Shadows, I wanted to show how lighting can redefine a space. By night, the graveyard is unsettling and alive with mystery. By day, it is silent and forgotten.
